METHODIST MEN FALL NEWS
The Methodist Men have been very busy this fall being the servant leaders that Jesus Christ wants us to be.
On Saturday, September 26th on the porch of Twice Blessed Showroom, the Men raised over $1500 for their Men’s charities in their first Tool and Sporting Goods sale. A special thanks to Pat Corn for taking many hours of time to use his pawn shop management experience in pricing all of the tools and sporting goods.
On Saturday, October 20th, the Men, in addition to their monthly serving food for the needy at Christ Kitchen that morning, came over and helped cleanup with the annual Church Arts and Crafts Show.
Lastly, in addition to conducting their Fall Porksteak Fundraiser on Sun Nov 11th, the Men subsequently opened their hearts and their pocketbooks to contribute $500 for two tables at the Salvation Army Hurricane Harvey Repair Fundraiser Dinner at Son Valley Ranch on Monday night, December 3rd.
16 of our men contributed to support the Salvation Army in that fundraiser.
The Methodist Men of our church encourage men to live like Jesus by being example servant leaders for our wives, children and our church and community and by showing love and caring for others. The Men thank all for their gracious support for the Men’s efforts in 2018 and invite other men to join us in our mission to serve Jesus Christ in our church and community.
5th ANNUAL MEN‘S PORKSTEAK FUNDRAISER A COMPLETE SELL OUT!
The Methodist Men of our Church raised over $2900.00 in its 5th annual Men’s Porksteak Fundraiser back on November 11th and COMPLETELY SOLD OUT by selling over 425 plates. It was a truly inspiring work effort by over 30 men to raise money for the Men=s charities. METHODIST MEN ADOPT BOLD PLANS FOR 2017
The planning committee of the Methodist Men (MM) has adopted bold plans for 2017 to continue to grow the impact of our Methodist Men’s efforts on our men and the men in our area. The goals of the Methodist Men continues to be to bring the men into deeper friendships with each other, support each other as brothers in Christ, help men start or continue their journey toward becoming authentic Christian disciples, and equip men for spiritual service in the home, workplace and community while finding proper balance for their commitments to family, work and faith. Bottom line, our men’s group seeks to make our men stronger disciples of Christ, stronger servants to others, stronger husbands and stronger fathers to our children. All men of our church are automatically members of the Methodist Men group.
The boldest part of the Men’s new plans for 2017 are early in the New Year as the men are planning a Methodist Men’s and Boy Scout Sunday on Sunday, February 12th at which the men will preside at all three services and the MM will give out the first FUMC Methodist Men’s Boy Scout College Scholarship. Then, Saturday evening, February 25th, the MM will encourage all the men and their youth to get their jeans and boots out for a Men’s Steak Night Cookout along the Guadalupe River, where the MM will provide the steaks and other great food and fellowship in a woodsy setting around a warm fire, including a spiritual service.
Men are invited to attend the weekly Man In the Mirror Video Bible Study from 10-11 am on Thursdays in The Crossing. Service to our church and community will not be 2nd place with the MM in 2017 as they will continue to build wheelchair ramps for needy families in the area, serve meals at Christ Kitchen the 3rd Saturday of each month, mow veterans cemeteries as a thanks to our deceased veterans families for their loved ones service, and organize the 5th Sunday Lunches for our church body on the 5th Sundays in January, April, July, and October.
The Men’s schedule continues with:
All men are heartily welcomed and encouraged to come and enjoy building friendships and serving others. Methodist Men want to help you grow as servant of Jesus Christ. For more information, we invite you to call or text Milton Chapman at 361-571-1091 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
