The confirmation program at First UMC is called Quest! 

 

It is a 13 week program that runs from Ash Wednesday through Pentecost and is for anyone 7th grade or older who has not been confirmed and wishes to take this step on their faith journey.  Each student (Pilgrim) in the class is paired up with a mentor (Guide) that they meet with each week both inside and outside of class to discuss assignments, Bible readings, and topic discussions.

 

Topics discussed on the Quest includes:  Biblical history, seasons of the church, Holy week, the body of Christ, who is Christ, United Methodism, history of the Church, and how these things all relate to us today.  Also during the Quest, Pilgrims and Guides will visit other places of Christian worship, as well as places of worship of other Abrahamic-based faiths (Judaism and Islam).  Pilgrims will also have the opportunity to lead Sunday morning worship on Palm Sunday.
