The Quilt Ministry is a new ministry to our church family. Volunteers create quilts to give away to young children being baptized in our church. We hope that the quilts will become a physical reminder to the children and their families that God's love enfolds them. Each quilt is prayed over, that the love of God will be felt by the child all of his or her life.Pictured here are some of the early quilts which have been made by our quilters.
If you are interested in quilting, or in learning to quilt in order to participate in this ministry of love, please join us whenever it's convenient. (Or you may want to just quilt from home - that's fine, too!) We meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month,at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. in The Crossing (which is the building across Bridge Street from the sanctuary.)If you have any questions, please call Maureen Sharp at 575-2632.
If you would like to support this ministry monetarily, please make your check to First UMC and note "Quilt Ministry" on the memo line. Your gift would allow people to make quilts who have the time and desire but not the money to make them. (Even a baby-sized quilt can cost around $30 to make!)
Your prayers are appreciated for this new ministry of our church family.
