Children’s Ministries
“It’s TIME” for worship, learning and FUN!
Our children’s ministries seek to reach out to children in our church and in our community to help them find God, understand His love for them and help them become disciples of Jesus Christ. Below you will find some general information on our programming.
Sunday School:
1. SUNDAY SCHOOL is from 9:15 – 10:15 A.M.
2. Sunday school classes for children from 3 years through 5th grade take place in our Children’s Ministry Center. During this time, we hope to help them learn about God’s grace and His will for them as they grow in their faith.
3. Please fill out a Sunday School/Nursery registration form so we can assure that your child is in the appropriate age group and taken care of to the very best of our ability. Click here for form.
4. Please walk your child into the foyer of the CMC each Sunday morning to sign him/her in.
5. The children should then be taken down to the multi-purpose room where they will have special group gathering/music time from 9:15 –9:30 a.m.
6. The children will be in their individual classrooms for teaching time from 9:30-10:15 a.m.
7. To assure your child’s safety, all children must be picked up and signed out by an adult at the same location they were signed-in.
8. Children 3 years-Kindergarten will be waiting in their classroom at 10:15 a.m. for you to pick them up. Any children not picked up by 10:25 a.m. will be taken to the nursery.
9. Children in 1st -5th grades will be brought down to the benches in the foyer area of the CMC at 10:15 a.m. each Sunday waiting for an adult to sign them out. Children not picked up by 10:25 a.m. will be escorted by a teacher to the sanctuary and will be seated on one of the front pews under the supervision of our church family. This is to allow teachers a chance to collect their own children, take care of any other needs and get to worship before it begins.
10. Class Locations:
We will look at your child’s grade and birth date as of September 1st to determine what class they will attend.
3 year-olds – Kindergarten: Room 115 (next to toddler nursery)

Nursery:
The nursery is available during the Sunday school hour for children 2 and under. Infants through 12 months are in the crib nursery. Toddlers through 2 years will be in Room 117. During church services, the nursery is available for children through kindergarten. Nancy Otworth is our Childcare Coordinator and can help with any questions or concerns you have regarding childcare.
Children’s Church – the R.O.C.K. (Reaching out for Christ the King):
The R.O.C.K. will begin during the late service on Sunday, September 11th. This is an optional service for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Children will begin worship service with their parents in the sanctuary and then have the option of leaving after the children’s sermon for a time of worship in the Upper Room. The children will share in upbeat praise and worship music, scripture reading, a message presented in various forms and then conclude in small groups to further discuss the message. Our worship team for Children’s Church will be Brooke Mercer, Scott McLeod, Mike Mercer, Ed Hendrix, Kyle Harrison and Sara Byrd.
We will not have the R.O.C.K. on communion Sunday or any other significant celebration in the life of our church family. It is important that the children stay connected to the church and the church stays connected to them. We will follow the school calendar and not have the R.O.C.K. during major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break.
Sunday Spectacular:
New this year, we will have a ‘SUNDAY SPECTACULAR’ on the first Sunday of every month during the Sunday school hour (9:15 – 10:15 a.m.) when the R.O.C.K. is not offered. The kids will gather together as a large group in the multi-purpose room for breakfast, music and special guests.
Cherub Choir:
The Cherub Choir is currently rehearsing during 'Wednesday Night Live' on Wednesdays from 6:10 - 6:30 p.m. in the Children’s Ministry Center. Cherub choir is for all children 3 years old through Kindergarten. Led by Debbie Durham, along with singing, your child will learn about the good news of Jesus Christ, God’s great love for them and the foundational elements of Christianity, such as prayer and forgiveness.
Children’s Choir:
The Children’s Choir is currently meeting on alternating Wednesdays during 'Wednesday Night Live' from 6:15 - 7:00 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the Children’s Ministry Center. This group, led by Jim McFarland, is for children 1st - 5th grade. During the fall we will be rehearsing a musical that will be presented in both services on Sunday, November 13th. We welcome parent involvement with rehearsals, sets, parties, costumes, transportation, etc.
Acolytes:
Our acolyte program is open to all children 3rd through 8th grade. Training will be held in the fall after the schedule for the year has been set. Please let us know if you would like your child added to the rotation for either the early or the late service.
